SWYPE Technology May Replace T9 Text Input

Clive Kushler has launched a new text technology for touch screen gadgets. Previously one had to press each letter but his new “Swype” allows crossing over the touch screen from one letter to another without raising the finger or stylus from the screen till the end of the word. Imagine how easy it would be when you don’t have to cross all the letters and Swype guesses the word just as T9 would. Swype amazes you with its speed when compared to working over the PC keyboard.

This technology is integrated with many special features like automatic insertion of spaces between words, correction of errors, shortcut for writing with a capital letter, auto correction of letters with diacritics through the dictionary as well as advanced functions for text formatting. Swype is also designed to be used on any device, which has a touch screen, be it cellphones, tablets or the monitors. It only recognizes limited languages like German and Spanish yet. One has to wait and watch if things are going to improve and if Swype would replace T9 or other text input methods.

The latest application of Tesla Coils by Scopeboy is a guitar amplification system, which of course looks, and sounds very dangerous. he managed to modify a Tesla Coil for guitar amplification, and has a capacity of 250,000 volts. Of course it is neither practical nor safe to be meddling with something like this but then, science has no limits and it is always good to try out something new. This, Scopeboy says, is just the beginning and he plans to build a Tesla Coil-powered harp very soon, which according to me is not a good idea, unless the player wants to be reduced to ashes.

Chopper Flown Via Artificial Intelligence

Choppers may soon be seen flying over our heads without a pilot but instead run by a computer posted on the ground. A couple days ago, a chopper was successfully flown via artificial intelligence (AI) and without any glitches making it a proud moment for anyone to witness. The chopper made its historic flight over Stanford University in California.

The AI system that the chopper uses has been built by computer scientists from the Stanford University. The four-foot long chopper was manned by a ground-based computer and can perform all the tricks that their original cousins can. Still in the development stage, the choppers would cost about $4000 and includes an accelerometer, gyroscope and a magnetometer. It may also take help from GPS or double ground-based cameras for determining its location. The developers intend for the chopper to be used for investigating wildfires or for surveillance by the military.

It has recently launched a bunch of bicycles equipped with cameras that would automatically shoot pictures of the different locations the user is at. The project is in collaboration with Flickr and the pictures shot are immediately uploaded to the website and can be viewed by others. The GPS-enabled bikes are currently running through San Francisco and New York and will soon take over Singapore, Denmark and U.K.

The eco-friendly bike includes solar panels to power the camera which takes snapshots every minute, albeit only when the bike is in motion so that you don’t get pictures of the same location. The camera which does all the work is actually a Nokia N95 with a custom Python script. Users with Symbian series 60 can join the game by downloading Yahoo’s ZoneTag software and attaching them to the bike.

If are using Firefox along side Google’s browser, this "Open in Google Chrome" extension might come handy - it lets you send web sites and links directly to Google Chrome from Firefox.It can also be configured to always open certain web pages in Chrome - e.g. *Google*,Gmail, etc.
Installation Procedure of "Open in Chrome" is as shown in the side pic.





Download open-in-google-chrome.xpi on to your desktop.

Restart Firefox. Then go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Options and browse for the chrome.exe file on your Vista / XP / Windows 2000 machine.


In Windows XP, Google Chrome installs under \Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\ while in Windows Vista, Google Chrome installs in \Users\\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\

The Google Chrome Firefox extension can also be configured to open a group of website(s) directly in Chrome even if you try accessing them from Firefox.

For instance, you may add "yahoo" to the list and any site that has yahoo in the URL would open in Chrome automatically. That includes "maps.yahoo.com", "news.yahoo.com", "yahoo.com" and even "bbc.com/news/yahoo-shares.html" so be careful while picking these wild cards.

The Titled might shock you but this is the latest 'inside' news about Apple.According to Blogger Toeman Apple is going to be closed this Tuesday which happens to be tomorrow (09-Sep-08).He also claims that he has received a memo that a Apple Employee has sent him.he memo, intended for all Apple employees, is signed by CEO Steve Jobs. Jobs writes that it is time to close down Apple because after making the top phones and laptops and being on top of the game he doesn't find it this industry any more exciting to compete on.




Job has also ordered his employees to clear up their desks as the building will be completely demolished.Job also added that after the closing of Apple he might play for Chicago White Sox !!.It seems all shocking and unbelievable but we have to keep our fingers crossed till tomorrow.Lets see what happens....will Bill Gates be happy ? !!
