Power Saving Switch System Design

Saving electricity can become a problem for busy families, as kids just forget to switch OFF lights when there is no need of it. Researchers at the University of Standford have come up with a ingenious solution to this very problem. They have designed a system in which for example you wish you switch ON another light the switch will get a bit rigid and resit your push. This is actually an indication that there are enough switches already ON in your house therefore you should first switch them OFF to reduce the load stress.

Solar Panel Radio Alarm Clock

Lately there have been many good and unique concepts and designs coming up for alarm clocks. Now today i came across this wonder concept. There is not much description given about this clock, but from it looks it is seems like the designer got inspired from some sci-fi aircraft.

The alarm clock would be solar as there would be two solar wings to assit it in that. Moreover the color of it is solid golden, which by the way not be liked by many. Anyways, there is radio integrated in it. Seems like the alarm clock will play your favorite radio station as the alarm.

My only concern is, with it being a 'solar' alarm clock what if there is no sunshine in the room !!

Organise Your Family with O2 Joggler

Keeping a family organized and to make sure everyone gets together on an occasion is a difficult thing in this busy world now-a-days. Earlier attaching small notes to the family fridge was one thing to make sure that a family member gets the message when he arrives home. But now with the revolutionary 'Joggler' by O2 is going to change this, with its superb connectivity technology no person in the house would be left ill-informed of something. The joggler connects wireless or via Ethernet port to your computer, from which you can update its calender with things to remind. This would automatically update the O2 Joggler and every person can read it. Its just like a variable post note on a fridge, but its portable.

Alistair Johnston, Marketing Director, Telefónica O2 UK said:

We’ve developed the O2 Joggler with today’s busy families in mind. It has been purpose built to help families better organize their lives.
Whenever the calender is update, the Joggler will  automatically send a text reminder to each family member's O2 phone. However, sending messages to the Joggler via a mobile phone is not available at the moment but this facility will be in the Joggler sooner or later.

Other features that the O2 Joggler has are as follows:

  • Weather - If you are planning to go somewhere, you can check from the  O2 Joggler weather widget, which gives out four-day forecast from 60 UK towns as well as most other cities across the world. Its provided by Sky News Weather.
  • Traffic - Trafficmaster lets you know what kind of traffic is on the road and what the average driving speed. It also remembers, what was the last location you checked for the traffic status.
  • News & Sports - Sky News and Sky Sports gives out the latest headlines updated through out the day.
  • Photos - It can also be used to store upto 200 pictures which you can transfer via a USB port in its 1GB storage memory.
  • Music/ Video - You can play upto 100 songs stored in the device memory and also you can stream them through your PC.
  • Games - Suduko is available to play, however more games will be added soon.
  • Tools - It can also be used as a calculator and alarm clock.

Radio feature would be soon added to the O2 Joggler from which you can listen to pre-set radio stations. In my honest opinion this is the best thing which can happen to a family. Its portable, useful, handy and very easy to use so what else you really need.
